Specially
devised for the ship designer who needs
to obtain in a few minutes a hull form with the required dimensions, geometry
and hydrostatic characteristics.
The
user controls the shape of the hull by numbers: he enters the desired
geometrical characteristics or hydrostatics coefficients and ShipGen iterates
to find the hull form which fits the requirements.
The
program incorporates a small integrated naval architecture calculations
module and it has a dynamic connection with the Excel spreadsheet to
which transmits in every lines modification the hydrostatic data of the new
vessel. Thus, the designer is capable of programming in Excel his own project
optimization models
and feed them dynamically using the data received from ShipGen, closing up
the iterative designing process.
To
generate the lines, ShipGen uses a set of basic ships (templates) perfectly
faired and identified by their Bezier´s surfaces. Starting from thisbase,
ShipGen makes up to 14 transformations from a lengthening to a modification
of the trim and the raise of floor.
ShipGen
package includes 5 basic types of ships (or templates). Additional
templates of other type of ships can be order to Defcar Ing. Check
the evaluation templates.
Templates
method is very flexible: as an extreme case, it can obtain the forms
of a cargo ship starting from a stern trawler, although for this case it is
recommended to use the lines of cargo ships included in the system.
The
lines generated by ShipGen are always faired provided the transformation
is not extreme.
Export
the hull form to your system as surfaces (NURBS-IGES) or 2D-lines (DXF).
No
training period required: just installed
you will begin to obtain results.
NOTE:
If you use a CAD system for ship design, you should previously use ShipGen to
generate the hull form in a faster, better and easier way, and then you could
continue the work exportting the lines to your CAD system. Download
the ShipGen evaluation version.
